Description
From Le Vian Couture®, this shimmering gemstone pendant necklace is fashioned in 18k Strawberry Gold® and exudes timeless style. This pendant features a Neopolitan Opal™ gemstone that is artfully surrounded by glistening Vanilla Diamonds™. The diamonds are 1/3ctw, I in color, and SI2 in clarity. This necklace measures 18 inches in length.

The lore of opals is plentiful, just like the variety of colors found in this fascinating, kaleidoscopic gem. The Romans believed it was the most powerful of gems and named the stone "opalus". The Greeks thought opals gave them the power of prediction. Europeans saw a symbol of hope, purity and truth. One famous opal "The Burning of Troy" was given by Napoleon to Josephine. Internal diffraction is what creates the colors you see in an opal and provides its shimmering iridescence. The colors dependent on the size of the silica spheres within the stone. Small spheres show blue, the largest show red and other colors too. The value is determined by the amount of color play within the stone although for many the colors and patterns favored are personal taste. Neopolitan Opal™ features an intriguing play of background colors combined with a captivating iridescence which blends deliciously with Le Vian® flavors of gold and diamonds, especially Strawberry Gold® and Chocolate Diamonds®

Vanilla Diamonds® are specially selected to adorn Le Vian® designs – from breathtaking one-of-a-kind red carpet favored designs in Vanilla Gold® to the trendsetting combination of Strawberry ‘N Vanilla® featuring the blushing hue of Strawberry Gold® topped with Vanilla Diamonds®.

  • Total Diamond Weight: 1/3 ctwCarat Weight: The actual weight of a single gemstone. The weight of a one carat diamond equates to 200 mg or 0.2 grams. Carat weight is often expressed as a decimal or as points. A one carat diamond is the same as 1ct. or 100 points; a 1/2 carat diamond could also be called .5ct. or a 50 point diamond. To make things complicated, gemstones have different densities. Meaning, a one carat diamond and a one carat amethyst are not exactly the same size. With a rating of 5.5 to 6.5 on the Mohs Hardness Scale, opals are somewhat fragile and should be treated with care. Heat can lead to evaporation and cracking so opal jewelry is best stored in moist, absorbent cotton in a cool location. As October's birthstone, the Opal promotes faithfulness and inner beauty, improves vision, and allows the wearer to recall past lives.
  • Stone Color: White
  • Stone Shape: PearPear: A type of cut where the gemstone or material is cut with oval table facets above and below the girdle. The finished gemstone resembles a teardrop.
  • Stone Size: 10 1/2 ct

Diamonds are the hardest natural substance on earth and rate a 10 on the Mohs Hardness Scale. Diamond is also known as April's birthstone.
  • Stone Shape: RoundRound: A gemstone or material cut or formed into a rounded shape.
