David Yurman created the first Cable bracelet for his wife and creative partner, Sybil. He twisted 50 feet of wire by hand, finishing the ends with tourmalines and emeralds. Sybil wore it every day and everyone wanted one. In 1983, the burgeoning David Yurman brand introduced the design as part of the Renaissance Collection. The bracelet’s form was inspired by Classical design and its colors from the palette of Renaissance paintings, but its spirit was thoroughly modern. An instant success, it remains a David Yurman icon today.
