Product Information

The Bracelet

The Pandora Bracelet stretches over time as weight (e.g. charms) is put on the bracelet. The chain, commonly called a snake chain, is made out of many little rings which are twisted very tightly into the chain. When buying a new bracelet it should be fairly tight. There should be no more than a thumb space between your wrist and the bracelet.

Sterling Silver

Sterling Silver is an Alloy of silver containing 92.5% by weight of silver and 7.5% by weight of other metals. the sterling silver standard has a minimum millesimal fineness of 925 and is hallmarked with 925 to represent this. All Pandora silver jewelry is produced in 925 sterling silver.

Gold

Gold's metal purity is measured in karat (k).

  • 24 karat contains: 100% gold
  • 18 karat contains: 75% gold
  • 14 karat contains: 58.5 gold
  • 9 karat contains: 37.5% gold

If the weight of a piece of jewelry is more than 1 gram, it must be stamped with the mark of the producer/seller and the relevant karat. All Pandora gold jewelry is made from 14 or 18 karat gold.

Other Metals

In general, Pandora mixes pure silver or gold with alloy purchased from some of the world's largest providers of metal alloys. Each of these alloys are certified by the supplier not to contain nickel, cadmium or other metals potentially recognized as toxic or allergenic. These alloys and their composition are both uniform (consistent over time and products) and common among most jewelry manufacturers.

Oxidation

The Pandora line of oxidized jewelry is meant to fade to an antique look as it is worn. How quickly depends on how the jewelry is treated. Some factors that may cause the oxidized jewelry to fade at a faster rate include wearing a large amount of charms with the oxidized item, wearing it often, or wearing it while getting the jewelry wet. Some other things which can cause the oxidation to fade include: perspiration, chlorine, perfumes and cleaning agents. DO NOT clean oxidized jewelry in liquid silver cleaner since this will remove the oxidized details. Oxidation that fades is considered normal wear and tear and is not a defect. Pandora will not replace any such items sent back for these reasons.

Leather

Leather is a natural product that will benefit from careful protection. Do not use in water or other liquids that may cause discoloration. Leather can stretch and relax over time; stretching is not a defect in this product. As a natural feature of genuine leather, you may notice gentle shading and variations in color. You may also experience a change in the shade of the leather due to oils in the skin and the addition of charms to the bracelet or necklace.

Use with a maximum of 7–9 charms. When adding charms to the new leather bracelets, please take care to hold the leather bracelet steady and twist the charm onto the bracelet. Be careful not to twist the leather part of the bracelet when adding charms, as the leather may be damaged.

Color Cords

Pandora color cords are made from synthetic fibers, which may become damaged or discolored if submerged in water.

Charms with Dangles

As some charms have dangles that are loose, they are subject to extra wear. Usually it is the eyelet on the charm which becomes most worn, as this is what moves. This happens even when charms are made of gold.

Murano Glass

Each of Pandora 's Murano glass charms are individually hand-crafted. The glass, from Murano Italy, has natural variations in color from lot to lot. In addition to these variations, the crafting of each bead introduces additional variables that can impact the appearance of the charm.

The charms are created when the glass is heated and stretched by the artisan. Variations in the temperature that the glass is crafted in, air quality and relative humidity (among other factors) can change the density and the refractive nature of the glass. This will result in the variations in the color and transparency of glass from batch to batch. This variation in color and appearance is normal and reflects the hand craft involved in producing these items.

Enamel

Pandora uses Italian enamel made without glass, which makes it more durable.

Wood Charms

Exposure to water for long periods of time can harm your wood charms. Pandora will not replace such items sent back for these reasons.

Freshwater Cultured Pearls

The pearls in Pandora's jewelry are freshwater pearls which means that they are cultivated. Pearls are cultivated by gently inserting an object into a freshwater mussel, which then begins creating layers of black mother of pearl around the object until a pearl is formed. One freshwater mussel can create up to 50 pearls. Cultured freshwater pearls cannot withstand silver polish. Avoid contact with makeup, creams, chemicals, water and cleaning agents.
