Preferred Diamond Solitaire Ring with GSI Grading Report 1/2ct

Item #: 18578484
Classic and timeless, this beautiful 1/2ct "Preferred" graded princess cut diamond solitaire ring is mounted in a 14k white gold polished band. It comes with the added reassurance of an official MDX Report™ validating its quality and specifications from GSI, the Gemological Science International. Additionally, the diamond has the grading report* number laser inscribed on the girdle. Color is I or better and clarity is I1 or better. Ring is 5.5mm at the top and 1.5mm at the bottom.

*Graded diamonds are often mistakenly referred to as “certified diamonds” or as including a “diamond certificate.” The term “certification” has been widely and wrongfully applied to diamonds, and therefore can lead to some confusion when referring to a diamond’s evaluation. What is incorrectly called a “certification” is, in fact, an individual grading report performed by a laboratory which assesses the diamond’s characteristics. To better serve our REEDS customers as they make important purchases, a grading report is included with the purchase of this diamond.

Education

Education is key when making a purchase that will last a lifetime. All of the items that we offer have many characteristics and we want to make sure that you are familiar with all of them. Below we have provided a glossary on the details of this item to aid you in your purchase decision. If for some reason we didn't cover everything, please visit our Education Library for additional information.

Diamond - This popular and sought-after gemstone is composed of carbon. Diamonds can be found in a variety of colors, from colorless to yellow, brown, and even black. Diamonds are the hardest natural substance on earth and rate a 10 on the Mohs Hardness Scale. Diamond is also known as April's birthstone.

Princess - A type of gemstone cut into a square or rectangular shape with triangular or kite shaped facets and resembles an inverted pyramid.

White Gold - A white colored gold attained by alloying yellow gold, copper, nickel and zinc, then plating the resulting alloy with rhodium.

Carat Weight - The actual weight of a single gemstone. The weight of a one carat diamond equates to 200 mg or 0.2 grams. Carat weight is often expressed as a decimal or as points. A one carat diamond is the same as 1ct. or 100 points; a 1/2 carat diamond could also be called .5ct. or a 50 point diamond. To make things complicated, gemstones have different densities. Meaning, a one carat diamond and a one carat amethyst are not exactly the same size. See our Education section regarding the "4 C's" for detailed information regarding Carat Weight.

14k - Gold is a very soft metal and needs to be mixed with other metals in order to be strong enough for jewelry. 14k is 58.3% gold and 41.7% other metals.

Certified - The term “certified diamond” refers to a diamond that has been inspected by a trusted gemological laboratory and has been issued a lab report, commonly referred to as a “certificate”.

Color - An industry measurement of color or tinting within a diamond or gemstone. See our Education section regarding the "4 C's" for detailed information.

Clarity - An industry term describing the number and density of inclusions and blemishes within a diamond or gemstone. See our Education section regarding the 4 C's for detailed information.
